**About the role**:
As the largest Museum in the UK, the British Museum offers unparalleled opportunities to work with a priceless collection of more than 8 million objects from around the world. The Museum’s aim is to be a ‘museum of the world for the world’ which is made possible by the dedicated work by those caring for the collection and international visitors totalling almost 7 million every year.
The postholder will be able to effectively co-ordinate the Museum’s loan projects and reactive loans, whilst maintaining high standards in Museum practice and risk management.
**Key areas of responsibility**:

- Respond to loan requests from external borrowers, maintain records on the Loans database and co-ordinate object loans from the collections of the British Museum to exhibitions in the UK and worldwide.
- Deliver logístical arrangements connected with loan projects in compliance with licences and legal requirements and assist with other object moves for acquisition or other purposes as required.
- Finance administration including processing purchase orders, invoices and budget monitoring.
- Act as a contact point for internal and external queries about procedures for loan projects.
- Ensure that arrangements for the loan of objects from the Museum are in line with established policy and procedure, and are handled efficiently and in a timely manner.
- To act as courier on UK and international loans and carry out any Known Consignor training and duties as required

- Knowledge of museum and cultural sector
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work within a variety of different teams
