**Job overview**:
An exciting 12 month secondment / fixed term opportunity has arisen for a full - time Band 4 Specialty PA within the Spinal Surgical Service at Queens Medical Centre. The post holder will provide administrative leadership, organisation and support to the spinal advanced practitioner service and newly designed spinal same day emergency care pathway. The post holder will be working closely with a team of administration colleagues as well as Medical, Surgical and Nursing staff to provide an excellent administrative service for our patients and parents/carers. The role involves bringing together excellent written and verbal communication skills, good working knowledge of Microsoft Office as well as excellent planning and organisational skills. You will be a team player and also able to work on your own initiative to meet agreed plans and deadlines.

**Detailed job description and main responsibilities**:

- Provide comprehensive admin support to the Spinal Advanced Practitioner team
- .Use judgement and initiative to prioritise the importance/urgency of tasks within defined guidelines
- Establish and maintain admin systems/databases
- Dealing with incoming mail, results/reports management
- Attending/organising meetings, take minutes.
- Ensure RTT patient data quality is accurate.
- Key point of contact for clinicians
- Communication link to directorate management team, regarding leave/service issues
- Dealing with clinician queries/visitors, managing clinicians 'diary.
- Telephone calls inbound/outbound relating to patients specific care, in a confidential manner.
- Typing of clinical and non-clinical letters as required.
- Liaise with administrative colleagues to ensure patients are treated within breach dates
- To support and mentor new staff.
- Share responsibility with line manager for own personal development.
- Undertake HR related tasks, appraisals and recruitment.
- Undertake any other duties which may be reasonably required.

- RSA III Word processing Qualification
- NVQ Level 3 in Administration

**Desirable criteria**:

- EDCL

**Experience**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Medical Terminology
- Electronic Diary Management
- Proven secretarial experience
- Able to navigate different computer systems
- Awareness of the need for confidential in accordance with data protection act and national local guidelines

**Desirable criteria**:

- Knowledge of 18 week and cancer targets
- Previous experience of working within the NHS

- Must be able to clearly and accurately convey information verbally gathered from both verbal and documented reports
