- **Electronic Resources Senior Assistant **for work in a prestigious academic setting, commencing ASAP for approximately 12 weeks, on a part time basis (21.9 hours p/w) Hourly rate: £15.60 + holiday pay.**Duties**:
**Communication**:

- Ensuring user queries are answered in a timely and professional manner.
- Referring difficult or sensitive queries to the Electronic Resources Acquisitions Team Leader.
- Writing and documenting of local procedures and practices for manuals and guidelines on Electronic Resources, and updating of these manuals as necessary. Preparation for presentations on Electronic Resources, and taking part in these presentations as required.**Teamwork and Motivation**:

- Taking a role in staff training for staff new to working on the ER Helpdesk.
- Helping to ensure that the team works to tight deadlines throughout the financial year.
- Participating in managing the ER Helpdesk including the rota.**Service Delivery**:

- **Liaising with international publishers regarding offers for new products, journal holdings lists, and price calculations on a professional basis.**:

- **Ordering new electronic resources through preferred suppliers.**:

- **Administering trials of electronic resources**:

- **Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of electronic resource systems, in particular, Databases A-Z and the ERM. This includes working on system updates.**:

- **Adapting Databases A-Z and the ERM to meet University and user needs and requirements.**:

- **Reading and understanding licences.Entering and maintaining licence data on the ERM**:

- **Creation, maintenance and manipulation of spreadsheets to record and report on data.Data entry onto these spreadsheets.**:

- **When required, doing Acquisitions (ordering and invoicing) and Cataloguing work on the Library management system.**:

- **Updating the authentication systems (currently ezproxy) to configure new resources and updating existing entries**:

- **Uploading material to a local server to make accessible to staff and students at the University of Oxford**:

- **Participating in tests for new functionalities and upgrades, including liaising with colleagues. This requires close collaboration with BDLSS and the system vendors.**:

- **Adding journal subscriptions to LOCKSS to ingest material for preservation and perpetual access**:

- **Assisting the Electronic Resources Acquisition Team leader by cross-checking budget figures. **Initiative and Problem Solving**:

- **Solving access problems with e-journals, ebooks, and databases, including authentication issues.**:

- **Solving technical issues with Databases A-Z and the Electronic Resour **ce Management **system**
- **Taking a role in staff training for staff new to working on the ER Helpdesk.**:

- **Helping to ensure that the team works to tight deadlines throughout the financial year.**:

- **Participating in managing the ER Helpdesk including the rota.**

**Other duties**
- **To participate in the Bodleian Libraries Annual Review Scheme.**:

- **To comply with health and safety regulations.
**Person specification**

**Selection Criteria**:
**1.Previous library experience, including library acquisitions.**

**2.Knowledge **of Aleph or ALMA or another ILS in either acquisitions or cataloguing (however, full training will be given).**

**3. Knowledge **of SFX, Electronic Resource management in ALMA, or another ERM**

**4.Experience of the management and administration of LibGuides**

**5.Experience of web page editing using HTML**

**6.Knowledge of electronic resource authentication methods
