**Learning Support Assistant**

You're currently working in the classroom supporting young people with SEN and you pride yourself on the contribution you make to children's education. You're a valuable member of the support team and are committed to ensuring all children have equal accessto education.

If you are a dedicated Learning Support Assistant, who understands how to support SEN and overcome barriers to learning, this might be a great assignment for you:
A secondary school role may be daunting to some, but it's rewarding to watch children benefit and thrive from the support you provide - within secondary, you will see the difference you're making to young people's learning every day.

**_The school:_**

From vast and bright classrooms to state-of-the-art sports and performing arts facilities, their environment allows students to excel and access 21st century learning, so you will be able to enable children to maximize their learning opportunities.

They have a centralised behaviour system allowing consistent classroom strategies with low impact processes, so you will benefit from a consistent behaviour policy that minimizes low level distractions, which can be the biggest hindrance to supporting childrenin education.

Their culture is friendly and supportive with a strong commitment to staff wellbeing and development. They have an active social calendar, including end of year trips, staff sporting fixtures and access to a free gym onsite, so you have a work/life balancebeneficial to you.

**_The assignment:_**
- Supporting children's behaviour for learning
- Assisting children with their understanding of activities and encourage active participation in class
- Assisting with note taking
- You may work with individual learners in the classroom 1:1 or you may work with individuals or small groups in the Learning Support department.
- Supporting the pupil's individual needs, according to their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
- Participating in team meetings and Continual Professional Development (CPD) training provided by the school as an active member of a team
- Maintaining pupil progress records
- Supporting regulations pertaining to safeguarding (_Department for Education _)

**If you would like the opportunity to explore further and find out more, then I would love to talk to you if you've provided support to children in any capacity and would like to transfer these skills to a school-based setting.
