Join Our Team:
**Location**: Birmingham

**Apprenticeship**:Level 6 Building Services Design Engineering

**Apprenticeship Provider**: Coventry University

Our Building Services team at Cundall have a mission: they want to play a key role in making buildings more energy and water efficient, cost effective to run and, ultimately, more sustainable. To do this, we’re looking for apprentice’s who have a desire and enthusiasm to make a difference: in our homes, our offices, our projects, our industry and our community.

The Building Services team are a source of world leading expertise - and offer a pro-active and collaborative approach to skill development, and professional excellence.

**What is Public Health?**

Public Health Engineers are responsible for the provision of safe water supplies for drinking and sanitary use; as well as the collection, disposal, treatment and recycling of wastewater.

Water is a precious resource and needs to be managed to reduce its use within buildings and controlled when disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.

Public Health Engineers deal with all types of sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS, black, grey and stormwater each with their own specific requirements). By sympathetically following the natural flow of the water cycle they can minimise the impact of buildings on the environment. Demands placed by a building on treated mains water can be minimised by designing for water efficiency. A building's water use can be augmented from alternative sources such as rainwater harvesting and greywater re-use. The Public Health Engineer’s philosophy is to minimise man's impact on the water environment.

The Role You'll Play:
This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring **Public Health Engineer** to join our **Birmingham** office within the Building Services team to learn what it takes to carry out the design of building services on some of the most exciting built environment projects in the UK and worldwide.

Working closely with colleagues across our multi-disciplinary practice, you’ll provide specialist consultancy input on projects across a wide range of sectors including education, healthcare, workplace, retail and critical systems (data centres).

Under the guidance of our team of experienced engineers, we’ll equip you to undertake detailed public health building services engineering design and analysis, define and translate clients’ needs into designs for buildings, facilities and services (wholesome water, domestic hot water, reclaimed sustainable water systems, drainage building infrastructure, gaseous systems, fire suppression systems and more) - all with sustainability at the forefront of the design.

The Skills You'll Bring:
To be considered for the role you will be required to have either of the following:

- Completed a Level 3 BTEC/Apprenticeship as a Building Services Design Technician.
- Completed a HND qualification.
- Taken part in the PlanBee scheme you will also qualify for this course.

During your studies and/or work experience to date you have developed a keen interest in engineering and/or construction.

You have a keen interest in learning new skills and are willing to work hard to reach your goals.

You possess the personal qualities and organisation skills to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, are a confident communicator, looking for a career in creative, sustainable, and intuitive design.
