We have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled individual to join our Public Health Inequalities team in a Senior Public Health Officer role to lead the development and delivery of a comprehensive work programme for addressing gender related health inequalities in the city.

This is a full-time position until 31 March 2024, which can be offered on a secondment basis or as a fixed term contract.

The Public Health Function is an important contributor to this vision through the continual championing of the health and wellbeing of all citizens across the city, but especially those experiencing inequalities.

This post will be part of the Inequalities Team within the Healthy Behaviours and Communities sub-division of the Public Health Division. We work with a wide range of stakeholders to improve health and wellbeing, including internal directorates, the Integrated Care System partners, NHS trusts and the third sector. The team you will be joining are engaged in a dynamic and diverse range of work, including discrimination health, poverty, inclusion health and clinical health inequalities.

**The Role**

The specific focus of the role is to develop and manage the delivery of a work programme incorporating a wide ranging activity to fully understand and address health inequalities affecting women, men, non-binary and transgender citizens. This work should promote collaboration and co-production with key stakeholders and the communities of experience. The programme will also involve establishing and managing project oversight boards, developing business cases and commissioning specific research initiatives, interventions and evaluations.

Ideally, we are looking for a senior public health project/ programme manager with a good understanding of health inequalities related to discrimination, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels to accept and implement the recommendations from research and projects as well as having the skills to commission specific initiatives to strengthen the project delivery and impact, including high quality independent evaluations.

**Skills & Experience**

The role will involve using your proven public health and managerial skills to work in partnership across organizational boundaries to make recommendations and embed findings into wider agendas.

This is an ideal opportunity for somebody who:

- has a substantial experience of working with a wide range of partners and stakeholders in reducing health inequalities
- understands the role that the health and wellbeing board, ICS and other partners can play to improve health and wellbeing and tackle health inequalities affecting different gender groups
- understands and can develop/ use public health research, data and evidence to influence system leaders and partners and implement change
- has substantial experience of developing and coordinating the delivery of major health and wellbeing change projects/ programmes in complex and challenging environments
- has strong people management skills and experience in developing staff through both formal and informal opportunities
- has strong written and verbal communication skills and substantial experience in writing programme plans and partnership strategies
- able to learn and adapt and can make a confident start in this role quickly.
