Head of IT
To lead the IT function across the UK and Portugal focused on supporting and enabling the business to realise opportunities in information systems through appropriate technologies and to provide support and assistance to the users of the company's IT systems. Identify, design, and implement system developments with a specific aim of ensuring readily accessible management information with mínimal administration input. In conjunction with the management team, develop and deliver the strategic business system plan.
Main Duties
- IT Strategy
- Develop a clear, strongly communicated IT vision for all to aspire to which is aligned to our values.
- Strategy to ensure that systems are fit for purpose, robust, secure and future proof.
- IT resourcing strategy that is cost efficient and meets all of the legal (licencing and data protection) requirements.
- IT investment strategy with justification that is sufficient to allow appropriate capex and cash flow planning.
Main Duties
- Project Management
- Lead the planning and implementation of IT projects.
- Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables.
- Define project tasks and resource requirements and develop full scale project plans. Assemble and coordinate programme or project staff and third part resource where necessary.
- Manage programme or project budget and resource allocation, plan and schedule project timelines.
- Track programme or project deliverables using appropriate tools.
- Provide direction and support to project team, constantly monitoring and reporting on progress of the project to all stakeholders.
- Present reports defining programme or project progress, problems and solutions.
- Implement and manage programme or project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs.
- Carry out programme or project evaluations and assessment of results including R.O.I
Main Duties
- Ensure System Stability & Performance
- Regularly system checks and log analysis
- Address any underlying system issues
- Ensure adequate security, virus and spam protection is in place
- Ensure operating systems and software are kept up to date with the latest security updates and patches
- Provide out of hours support for business-critical processes.
- Use 3rd party support desks for escalating issues
- Facilitate and provide training to the user base
- Performance monitoring
- Liaise with support personnel and users to gain an understanding of real-world speed on system and react accordingly
Main Duties
- Software and Data
- Understand the business functions and how the software is used to ensure easy input of data and meaningful report outputs
- Manage reports and data requirements for all area of the business through the BI platform
- Ensure the delivery of reports that provide insight and drive decisions that add value and give clarity of performance.

- Managing The Team
- Align the IT department to actively support the needs of the business.
- Support and advise all direct reports, carrying our regular 1-2-1s, quarterly appraisals and develop individual development plans with them.
- Carry out, with the support of the HR Team, performance improvement, disciplinary, grievances as appropriate for the IT Team
- Ensure IT Team work as an integrated unit.
Professional Experience:
- experience in leading an IT function
- experience in a MS server environment
- experience in data management and report requirements and building
- Able to operate effectively in a high volume FMCG operation
- Possess a good understanding of lasted training, learning and development techniques
- Able to work diplomatically and confidentially.
- Demonstrable experience of instigating, managing and delivering programmes or projects both inside the IT department and throughout operations.
Qualifications:
- Trained in systems analysis, systems design, project leadership and planning and control skills
- Excellent working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, SQL, Exchange, Terminal Server/Citrix, Nav

- Professional, confident and mature approach that encourages confidence in others
- Awareness of business priorities and selflessly works to ensure that IT delivers and supports in line with them.
- Strong communication/influencing, attention to detail and people management skills
- Able to develop and maintain multiple relationships at different levels
- Prioritising and problem-solving skills.
- Have an organised and structured approach, able to meet agreed deadlines on time
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to be self-motivated
