**Job description for HR Officer**
1. Core Purpose and Main accountability
- To assist the HR Manager in all aspects of HR and Payroll functions within the school
- To work closely with the HR team to provide coherent and consistent HR support across the entire school
2. Key Responsibilities
The post holder is expected to maintain complete confidentiality at all times.
**Main Tasks**
- To be a point of contact for staff and managers on employment and employee relations advice
- Produce employment contracts and variation to contracts in line with authorised management requests
- Work closely with our payroll provider, ensuring that information is kept up to date and any problems are identified and addressed. Issue accurate payroll instructions and to meet payroll deadlines
- Manage the implementation and monitoring of HR processes, including recruitment, employment contracts and variations, starters and leavers, employment checks, induction, mandatory/other training, probationary period review, performance management review, maternity/paternity leave, flexible working requests and the evaluation of training, providing appropriate support and coaching to all management to ensure full compliance with policies and procedure
- Assist the HR Manager in the management of poor performance, advising on solutions and assisting with their implementation
- Provide information reports relating to HR, for example, absence data, staff lists, payroll costs, etc. Work on requests for information, ensuring timely and accurate responses are provided
- Work with Managers to ensure all information (e.g. jobs, hours, etc.) are up to date
- Contribute to the development of HR policies, as requested
- Management and provision of HR data, including data input, as necessary
- Maintain a filing system to ensure documents and information are retained
- Maintain and update HR database system
- Complete relevant documentation in line with regulatory and awarding bodies
- To maintain up to date working knowledge of the latest HR issues and changes in Employment Law
- Comply with Data Protection regulations and the College’s policies
- Seek, at all times, to be effective and efficient and to enhance the quality of the service which the HR team gives to all its users in line with the values of the College, thereby assisting them to provide a high quality of service

- To work co-operatively with colleagues to achieve the aims and objectives of the post and the School.
- To participate positively in the implementation of new working methods and practices as required.
- To undertake other duties within his/her competence or otherwise appropriate to the grading of the post as required.
**Personal Development**
- To work positively and constructively with the line manager to identify strengths and agree an action plan in relation to development needs, to set these out in a personal development plan which will be reviewed regularly with the line manager.
It is a requirement, in accord with the guidance of the Catholic Education Council, that staff in Catholic Schools should “have regard to the Roman Catholic character of the school and not do anything in any way detrimental or prejudicial to the interests of the same”
