**How you'll make a difference**:
As a qualified Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) in an integrated Mental Health Team you will make a difference by providing appropriate and effective interventions to people with severe and enduring mental health needs, and those in their networks, enabling and assisting them to meet daily health, social care and well being needs, in line with personal recovery goals.

**What will you be doing?**

Reporting to the Team Manager within Avon and Wiltshire Partnership (AWP) Trust, you will assess, plan and where appropriate provide and evaluate services to people who have, or are the carers of individuals who have, serious mental health needs.
- You will be required to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the Mental Health Act 1983, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and subsequent legislation. This entails being personally accountable for decisions made whilst acting as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) under the auspices of the Mental Health Act 1983.
- The role will require you to work collaboratively with other agencies and services within an integrated Health and Social Care model. On a daily basis, you will consider referrals for mental health act assessment alongside other team colleagues and as necessary undertake those assessments allocated by the senior practitioner or team manager.
- Working mainly within the South Gloucestershire locality but you will also be expected to work outside the immediate locality and on occasion to attend for other assessments in other parts of the country.
- You will be required to attend annual training in relation to the AMHP role and to keep an up to date portfolio for inspection as part of the local authority’s re-warranting process.

**What we need from you**:

- It is essential that you have a recognised professional qualification in Mental Health or Social Work (DipSW. CQSW, or equivalent) and be registered with the appropriate professional body eg. Social Work England, or the relevant recognised professional qualification for a community psychiatric nurse, an occupational therapist or psychologist.
- You must be qualification as an Approved Mental Health Professional
- Demonstrable skills in the ability to assess, manage and work in situations which may involve risk.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with a variety of professionals.
- You must have sound knowledge of the Mental Health act and other related legislation.
- You require a proven track record for working collaboratively with individuals, families, and other professionals.

Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
