**Hours**:Average 16 hours per week working at least two evenings per week. Evenings and weekends essential.

**Overall purpose of job**
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and resourceful individual to become part of our team, representing the Carnegie to visiting artists and to our diverse audiences at live music, theatre events and venue hires.
The post holder will ensure adherence to all licensing conditions, health and safety regulations and any other legislation applicable to the venue.
A key member of the operations team, the post-holder will co-ordinate our front of house and back-stage teams to ensure safety, security and customer care standards are maintained at the highest levels in line with the charity’s ethos and values.
**Principal Responsibilities**
To co-ordinate front-of-house and backstage activities at live music, theatre events and venue hires.
Working as part of the operations team to act as the first point of contact for all patrons by ensuring there is a visible supervisor presence on all Incoming, Intervals and Outgoing.
- Supervise shows, conferences, corporate & Carnegie Theatre events when needed to.
- To act as supervisor on a Rota basis, working evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
- Manage procedures to ensure that all front of house areas are kept clean and tidy at all times and that regular checks of public areas are undertaken and findings acted upon.
- To establish a visible and accessible management profile throughout the theatre when supervising, to foster good relations and to provide support, advice and assistance to staff, producers, artists and visitors.
- Ensure a welcoming environment and ambience is always created by means of cleanliness, tidiness, correct music, lighting, and heating, wherever possible, within the constraints of the venue.
- Support the Hospitality Team to maximise income on all areas front of house, bar and cafe, including in-house and touring merchandise.
- To assist the Hospitality and Facilities Manager with induction, training, motivation and performance management of the Volunteers and Hospitality Team.
- Completion of an internal show report system, as required by the Hospitality and Facilities Manager.
- Administration relating to the post, as required. Including, but not limited to, sales data collection, input and analysis, reporting, banking collation and creation of basic signage for retail promotions.
- To adhere to and carry out emergency and evacuation procedures including all relevant training, drills and briefings. Responsibility, when on duty, of all staff, volunteers, public and contractors to always ensure their safety.
- Monitor cash handling procedures, banking and reconciliation of all front of house income.

**Required Knowledge and Experience**
**Essential**:
- Experience of dealing with the public
- Experience of event organisation
- Experience of customer service
- Numeracy and cash handling
- Knowledge of basic computer tools
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift and move event equipment
- Confident manner
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and in emergency situations
- Positive attitude
- Ability to listen
**Desirable**:
- Experience of working with volunteers
- Knowledge of basic first aid and willingness to undergo advanced training
- Experience of acting as a key holder
- Training in Health & Safety Issues
- Valid First Aid at Work certificate
- Personal Licence Holder
- Previous bar and cellar maintenance experience
**Key Terms and Conditions**
The starting rate of pay for this post will be £10.20 per hour.
Core working hours will be to cover event or show times. Although there may be some day-time events, the hours are predominantly during the evening and, when covering standard events at the Carnegie, will be from 5pm till approximately midnight though on some evenings the bar will be open later.
