- There has never been greater public demand or a more pertinent need to understand the heritage of the transatlantic slave trade and discuss its legacies. This is a unique opportunity for someone with the passion, energy, and dedication to join our Learning & Participation team in a role that is critical to supporting the facilitation of workshops and events with community stakeholders most affected and most invested in the outcomes of the International Slavery Museum and Maritime Museum re-development and wider Waterfront Transformation Project.
- We want to work with communities so a more diverse range of people can create a vision to transform the International Slavery Museum and Maritime Museum generously supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund with thanks to National Lottery players.
- The role will be an amazing opportunity to join our team to help deliver activities and events as part of the community participation programme for the redevelopment of the International Slavery Museum and Maritime Museum. The role is core to the project’s approach to involving local communities and wider UK stakeholders in events and activities exploring project themes including Black history, the broader Black experience, British history, chattel and transatlantic slavery, social movements and moments, racial inequalities, contemporary forms of slavery and social injustice.
- Reporting to the Learning Resources Co-ordinator you will be part of an inclusive and people-focused Learning and Participation team, delivering a programme of public events, workshops, tours, talks and other activities in our museums and galleries and in community settings.
