An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Risk & Insurance team for a **dynamic** and **committed individual** to support the council as Risk & Insurance Assistant (Claims), with the core function of the role being supporting the council to handle **insurance claims** effectively and efficiently.
You will be involved in all aspects of claims administration, customer support, financial transactions, claim payments and recoveries. You will work with various risk and insurance databases and work flexibly to support all areas of the team, with an opportunity to build your own areas of expertise.
You will be joining a team of motivated and welcoming risk and insurance professionals and have a manager who is supportive and keen to facilitate your development, with the potential to work towards a professional qualification in risk and insurance.
You will be expected to have a good understanding of the policies relating to highways to handle claims efficiently and in a timely manner.
**What will I be doing**:
Administer claims for the County Council and other parties
- Gather and process information to enable accurate assessments of cover/legal liability
- Make informed decisions on self-insured claims in line with agreed authority limit
- Act as the main point of contact for insurers for claims exceeding authority limit
- Assist in maintaining systems, guidance notes and procedure manuals
- Provide information and support to those within the service area and other departments
- Handling queries from internal and external customers
- Contribute to the success of the team, planning and organising workload to meet deadlines

- Educated to level 2, including NVQ and GCSE or equivalent

Our Risk & Insurance team is based in Matlock, Derbyshire, but we also work at home on a hybrid basis. There'll be an opportunity to discuss future working arrangements at interview including full time, part time and flexible working according to the needs of the service.
