We are looking to recruit an Intensive Outreach and Recovery Worker to join the Specialist Eating Disorder Service (SEDS) within FTB. SEDS provide specialist assessment, intervention and treatment for patients 0-25 with eating disorders in the community. The team supports patients in the community and own homes, to reduce inpatient admissions and facilitate safe early discharge. The team are developing the intensive pathway within the service working with primary care and acute medical hospitals.

The post holder will be required to have excellent communication skills, be compassionate, respectful and value individual patient needs. They will have the ability to recognise and manage challenging situations in a calm and professional manner, be resilient and emotionally intelligent.

The post holder must be prepared to work flexibly across a 6 day working week, between 8am - 8pm weekdays and weekends where appropriate. A driving license and access to a car daily for work purposes is also essential as the service is citywide.

Assist the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the evidence-based care for patient with eating disorders, including physical health monitoring and health promotion for patients.

Provide direct support and treatment for patients and their families, with supervision from the care coordinator/core worker.

Provide treatment and support for patients in managing mealtimes, such as meal support for patients, role modelling management of mealtimes for families/carers, safely managing or adjusting to exercise/activity levels and brief therapeutic ED focused interventions.

Complete patient physical health checks and monitoring, including weight, height, blood pressure & pulse, ECG, bloods. Reporting back to care coordinator or medic.

Provide a range of appropriate interventions individual support, exposure worker, behavioural management, group work, parental and family support as agreed.

Responsible for reporting and recording any changes in the patient’s mental/physical/emotional state to the care coordinator/core worker.

Support the MDT in engaging patients and establishing therapeutic relationships, with appropriate boundaries.

Engage and support the patient’s family/carers. To work in partnership with families, support them with setting boundaries and the maintenance of these.

Provide psychoeducation to the family regarding eating disorder signs and symptoms, potential physical health risks and interventions.
