GBNFC Children Centre is looking for energetic and committed colleagues to help deliver the Birmingham Forward Steps Children’s Centre services across the Selly Oak District. **We are currently recruiting for an Early Years Outreach worker to join our team**. We want someone who has the knowledge, insight and experience of working with vulnerable children and families, who can 'hit the ground running' and it is essential that you hold relevant qualifications. Preferably have your own transport and good knowledge, insight and experience of working with vulnerable children and families, with a flexible working approach.
- **Main functions**:_
- Lead on planning, preparing and implement a stimulating range of simulating, age appropriate activities to support a range of children’s development in targeted group environments.
- Provide and set up a simulated environments prior to the arrival of the children and families, according to educational plans and ensure health and safety is maintained, tidy away after their departure. Ensure rooms are left clean and tidy at the end of each day in support of venue hire guidance.
- Ensure confidentiality with regard to the staff, parents and children is adhered to at all times
- Be aware of the staff team including assistants, volunteers and students on a day-to-day basis to ensure high standards are constantly achieved.
- To undertake mandatory visits and development checks in line with full training given to complete children’s two year developmental checks for children previously conducted by the health visiting team.
- To initiate and contribute to a programme of activities that meet the individual needs and interests of children and the EYFS and involves other team members as appropriate
- To provide a high standard of observations, record-keeping and understanding of your key children’s development and learning journeys (and non-key children, particularly when their Key Person is not present)
- To be able to sign post services users to the appropriate professional agency
- To liaise with and support parent, carers and other family members and form professional parent partnerships, sharing their children’s developmental and learning journey through written, print or electronic systems.
- To work alongside the Management Team and colleagues to ensure that the nursery’s philosophy and standards are maintained
- To look upon the organisation as a "whole" to see where your help can be most utilised, so that you are constantly aware of the individual needs of all children and colleagues, in order to improve their and your experience.
- Have a high awareness of the setting’s policies and procedures and ensure these are carried through by you during everyday tasks.
- Understand and adhere to the settings safeguarding policies and procedures to keep children safe and secure and ensure others at the setting are adhering to the policy.
- Ensure the needs of Special Educational Needs (SEN) children are met in conjunction with the settings SENCO.
- Ensure non-discriminatory behaviour and equality is maintained within the day care environment and promotes diversity and that the settings equal opportunity policy is adhered to at all times.

**Qualifications and Experience**
- NVQ 3 Children’s Care, Learning & Development or equivalent
- General education to GCSE standard preferably including Maths and English Language Grade C and above or equivalent
