**Hours**: Full Time
Our client, a specialist Domestic Abuse charity based in Merseyside, is looking for an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate to join their IDVA team in order to support with the increasing level of referrals to the service.
Our client is one of Merseyside’s leading providers of domestic abuse services and has developed a number of interesting and innovative services to best meet the needs of victims fleeing domestic abuse. You will be working within a professional and dedicated team and alongside a fantastic group of managers.
**Responsibilities**:
- Provide crisis intervention and support services to individuals experiencing domestic violence
- Conduct assessments to determine the needs and safety of clients
- Develop safety plans and provide referrals to appropriate resources and advocate for clients' rights and assist with navigating legal systems
- Key working clients including carrying out initial assessments, risk assessments (including MERIT assessments), devising support plans and safety plans
- Making referrals to MARAC and attending, presenting, and advocating on client’s behalf at MARAC and various other multi-agency meetings
- Facilitate support groups and educational workshops on domestic violence prevention
- Collaborate with community organizations and agencies to coordinate services for clients
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records
**Skills**:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Empathy and ability to provide non-judgmental support
- Knowledge of domestic violence dynamics and trauma-informed care
- Experience supporting victims of domestic violence (in Domestic Abuse services, specialist Police units, supported housing etc) and a strong working knowledge of criminal and civil legal options relating to domestic violence
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
This position requires a commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and a dedication to supporting individuals affected by domestic violence.
