Postgraduate research students (PGRs) are an essential part of our research ambitions, adding new capacity to our research engine and contributing to our research ambitions, whilst studying for a research doctorate supervised by teams of faculty-based research-engaged academic staff.

The Doctoral Research College team is led by the DRC Manager and comprises a team of Doctoral Research College Officers and the DRC Administration Manager leading the Programme Administrators (DRC) team, all working in partnership with academic staff to support all aspects of PGR life and administering the systems and processes that underpin doctoral studies.

The Programme Administrator (Doctoral Research College) is a point of contact for the administration of all aspects of the PGR life-cycle from admission to award. The post holder will be responsible for a broad range of support activities including:
1. To provide high quality, efficient and effective administrative support for Postgraduate Research students;
2. Have responsibility for a wide range of course administration duties for PGR students, maintaining student records and providing services and support to PGR students and colleagues across the PGR student life-cycle from admission to completion / award in line with UKVI rules and regulations.

3. The support of the PG Certificate in Research Practice coursework submission; doctoral progression and monitoring; personal support arrangements; research fees and stipends, and general enquiry handling.

4. Support the administration of University-wide researcher development initiatives.

5. Have a working knowledge of the University’s regulations, policies relating to research degrees.
- Education to first degree level is desirable.
- A high level of literacy and numeracy
- Excellent IT skills including advanced knowledge of web based solution, word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software packages, preferably Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams.
- Proficiency in the use of the SITS student record system is desirable.
- Experience of providing high quality customer service in a complex environment.
- Experience of a student-facing role in higher or further education is desirable.
- Experience of maintaining student or other complex records accurately.
- Experience of working successfully as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate clearly and in appropriate language with students and colleagues both orally and in writing.
- Ability to understand and explain complex regulations to students and colleagues.
- Ability to manage own time and workload.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to support, guide and inform as necessary.
