Due to expansion we are looking for Passenger Assistants to join our Integrated Passenger Transport service in providing a vital service to the residents of North Yorkshire.

**Our Team**

Our service is responsible for the safe and efficient use of approx. 100 minibuses used to transport people in North Yorkshire. Our team comprises approximately 300 drivers and passenger assistants that operate at locations throughout North Yorkshire.

The team delivers approximately 250,000 passenger journeys per year including 20,000 wheelchair user journeys. The transport provided enables people to access day centres, learning opportunities, supported employment and other meaningful activities in our community. We also undertake registered local bus services and community transport journeys, we also provide passenger assistants for children who require extra support to attend school.

**The role**

As our Passenger Assistant, you will
- ensure the safety, comfort and general wellbeing of our clients while in transit, and be vigilant to their needs and deal with any challenging behaviour appropriately.
- assist with securing wheelchairs in position on vehicle and luggage, walking frames etc. are properly secured during transit. You may at times, assist with the safe transit of personal belongings, medication, etc. from home to centre and vice versa.
- Ensure the safe transfer of service users from wheelchairs to conventional or adapted seating and vice versa, and assist the driver in the operation the tail lift.
- Help passengers to and from their homes if required including those that travel in a wheelchair.

This is not a care role but it does require you to be of a caring nature. You will receive basic first aid and have the opportunity to develop this further.

**Shifts**

Our core hours are 6:30am to 6:30pm and your shift will be within these hours, weekend work may be required which we will pay you an additional allowance per day.

There is potential for additional hours.

**What you will bring**

You will need to be customer focussed and be able to communicate effectively with our clients. Be caring and supportive with the ability to build relations and have a calming manner.
