Position Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will be an integral member of a dedicated team, tasked with performing both straightforward and intricate maintenance duties. This role involves executing minor repairs and routine preventative maintenance tasks as directed by supervisory personnel, while adhering to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a secure working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support fellow team members in executing repairs and assist skilled tradespeople with mechanical and electrical installations, particularly those related to steam and high/medium pressure systems.
  • Engage actively in the Trust's labor management system, ensuring all necessary documentation, including job records and time logs, are accurately completed.
  • Perform tasks on low pressure hot water systems, addressing both complex and straightforward issues while following supervisory guidance.
  • Conduct minor troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment as required.
  • Communicate with the Maintenance Supervisor regarding scheduled maintenance or equipment malfunctions.
  • Complete all required reporting documentation in a timely manner.
  • Operate Trust vehicles as necessary for job functions.
  • Utilize appropriate tools and equipment, such as screwdrivers, in compliance with safety standards.
  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, aligned with individual skill levels.
  • Report any incidents or safety concerns through the established incident reporting system.
  • Execute planned preventative maintenance on complex Thermostatic Mixing Valves, including disassembly and repair, utilizing precision tools.
  • Assist the team in safely managing the release of passengers during lift operations.

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is committed to fostering leadership and improvement skills among its staff. Qualifications

Essential

  • Completion of a City & Guilds relevant course or equivalent experience in a healthcare facilities environment with engineering training.

Desirable

  • Participation in foundational improvement training and the New and Aspiring Leaders program within the first year of employment.
  • Experience in TMV maintenance.
  • Certification in First Aid at Work.

Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge of first aid, particularly in electric shock response.
  • Training in Manual Handling.
  • Health and Safety Training.

Desirable

  • Basic plumbing skills.
  • Fundamental electrical awareness.
