This is a great opportunity to work with and mentor a constantly busy team with ever changing priorities where no two days are the same. As a great coordinator you will be adaptable in your approach to work and open to meeting the various challenges that the billing and collection of Council Tax presents.
If you have experience in working with the public and can demonstrate a confident and diplomatic approach supported by good interpersonal skills, if you are motivated by improving the customer experience and aspire to deliver a first-class service then we would like to hear from you. You must show the ability to make decisions under pressure and deal with changing priorities directing the team knowledgably and with confidence.

We are passionate about providing an excellent service to our communities supporting customers in often difficult and challenging times. Working alongside other senior officers, you will monitor workloads whilst advising on all aspects of the administration and billing and collection of Council Tax. Implementing and complying with statutory legislation, policies and procedures, whilst providing a high-quality customer service.

Your daily work will be varied and will range from working with the other senior officers, team supervision, work allocation and monitoring to dealing with complex legislative queries and challenging customers. You will advise and support the team and will promote and champion efficiency to maximise performance. You will hold regular 1-2-1 meetings and manage the ongoing training of officers identified from within the appraisal system.

You will provide advice, guidance and explanation, signposting customers for further ongoing support and recognising the need to safeguard individuals including cases of mental health, severe vulnerability and financial difficulties whilst managing customers of a challenging nature.

You will be working with all aspects of Council Tax billing and collection, including updating and accurately maintaining data and customer accounts using our main systems. We use Capita's Academy System supported by our document management system Enterprise.

We work in a fully collaborative and supportive team and wider service. There are opportunities to work in a hybrid way however there will be an expectation to work in the office to train and mentor and perform certain tasks. Our main office is based in County Hall and we also maintain an office at Westport House.

Future development is supported with access to training and development including consideration for professional qualifications through the professional body of the IRRV.

**About you**:
The experience, knowledge and skills required for this role are specified in detail in the person specification, job description and within the context statement. You must be a superb communicator and able to deliver messages to a range of customers and officers alike. You must be able to draw on legislation and case law in your responses and look to maximise Council Tax collection whilst promoting the take up of discounts and support.

We are looking to appoint a dynamic, capable senior officer with proven people management skills and experience in the administration of Council Tax. This is a great opportunity to help lead a busy team who have a large and varied workload.

You will be proficient in handling a wide range of highly sensitive data and have the ability to communicate complex information in easy-to-understand Plain English.
You must have the ability and flexibility to cope with the pressures of changing priorities and tight deadlines. Ideally you will also be fully conversant with Microsoft Office products and have some experience of working with the Capita Revenues systems and document management system would be advantageous although training will be provided.
