We are recruiting for a Finance Assistant to manage aspect of the Academy Finances.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
1. The Finance Officer will be responsible for the management of the finances of the Academy and will put in place, manage and maintain all the systems and routines connected with this aspect of the Academy.

2. The Finance Officer will promote the highest standards of business ethics within the financial aspects of the Academy business and work with the Governors and Senior Leadership Team to ensure the most effective use of resources to support the Academy’s strategic plan.

**KEY TASKS**:
**Academy Financial Procedures**:
1. To work in accordance with the Academy’s Financial Handbook and Academy’s charging and remission policy.

**Income and Expenditure**:
2. To monitor, control all expenditure.

3. To prepare financial reports for the School Business Manager.

4. To manage the Academy’s financial systems for public and private funds, ie SIMS, FMS, Paxton Accounting.

5. To oversee the financial cashless system, IMPACT and manage biometric registration of pupils.

**Purchase Ledger**:
6. To manage the purchase ledger function.

7. To provide cover in the absence of the other Finance Assistant with regards to the responsibilities for the sales ledger/credit control functions.

**Budget and Accounting**:
8. To maintain complete financial accounts and full supporting records.

9. To control and monitor delegated budgets to Departmental Heads, including the maintenance of a list of budget holders and signatures.

10. To assist in the preparation of the year end accounts and other returns required by the EFA as requested by the School Business Manager for consideration by the Headteacher and Governors.

11. To assist the School Business Manager to control, maintain and reconcile all bank accounts of the Academy (including Academy credit card and fuel card).

12. To manage the security and regular reconciliation of petty cash.

13. To prepare month end reports, including credit card, petty cash and bank reconciliations.

14. To prepare and manage weekly cheques/BACS payments.

15. To oversee the purchasing of all goods and services for the Academy, to scrutinise payments and invoices, ensuring that all goods and services purchased provide ‘value for money’.

16. To prepare receipts and the physical banking of monies.

17. To assist with internal and external audit process as required by the School Business Manager.

18. To ensure the retention, secure storage and disposal of accounting records in accordance with both legal and Authority requirements.

19. To maintain an authorised signatory list for employment contracts and pay documents.

20. To manage the purchase order system and ensure all relevant approvals are in place prior to purchasing

21. To purchase items for Bursary pupils

22. To check all music invoices supplied by the Sales Finance Officer before posting to parents

23. To purchase in advance items required for the Stater Kits for the new year 7 intake

24. To manage the parent donations via the Paxton system

25. To clear balances of all Academy trips on the FMS system prior to year end

**Staffing**:
26. To book training courses and enter training absences on Sims for all staff in the Academy in liaison with the CPD co-ordinator.

**Administration**:
27. To process staff reimbursements.

28. To administer the school’s mobile phones.

29. In the absence of the other Finance Assistant to use the Parentpay system to distribute letters and newsletters to ensure Academy protocols are followed.

**General**:
30. To attend and participate in finance meetings and engage in appropriate training.

31. To take into account the ethos of the Academy.

32. To keep up to date with research and developments related to school efficiency, which may lead to improvement in day to day running of the Academy.

33. To maintain confidentiality of information acquired in the course of undertaking duties.

34. To undertake any other duties as requested by the Headteacher, in order to ensure the effective running of the Academy.

35. A commitment to the importance of safeguarding for children.

37. To print and reconcile the weekly ParentPay financial reports

38. To fulfil any other duties as may be reasonably required, as directed by the School Business Manager, SMT and Headteacher

**Involvement in the wider life of the College, including PMR and Professional Development**

39. To participate in arrangements made for the appraisal of performance.

40. To participate in arrangements for your further training and professional development.

41. To maintain good order and discipline among the students and safeguarding their health and safety, both when they are authorised to be on the school premises and when they are engaged in authorised school activities elsewhere.

**Salary**: £20,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
