Our ADHD clinic service works with young people to support their understanding of their diagnosis and engage them and their family in discussion and consideration of medication.

As a Band 7 Non Medical Prescriber you will work in a supportive team with other NMP's, psychiatrists, HCP's and family support advisers to offer a reflective and considered approach to initiating and reviewing medication alongside children, young people and their families. Under supervision, as the NMP you will lead the care of a complex case load of young people and provide an independent prescribing service for young people in line with Trust policy and supported through a Governance framework.

The wellbeing of our Administrative and Clinical staff is top of our agenda; we have an active Wellbeing Team and regular opportunities for staff support. We have a strong ethos of collaboration, shared reflection and team working.

**Some of the key duties will be to**:
Work with a dynamic and inspirational non medical prescribing team.

Hold responsibility for a caseload of Children and young people, offering independent prescribing and medication monitoring.

Supporting the development of the ADHD treatment offer in the team

Attending supervision with the NMP team and medic team

Provide expert specialist practice and ensure the delivery of treatment is evidence based.

The ADHD clinic service operates across two site one in Aylesbury and the other in High Wycombe.

The role will include the following responsibilities and you will be expected to carry out non-medical prescribing supported through Governance framework and in adherence to agreed policy.

Consult with patients, diagnose, and generate treatment options and follow
- up plans, where applicable, within clinical management plans.

Prescribe safely and effectively, acknowledging own limitations and scope of practice.

Work within Trust and local policies that guide prescribing practice.

Participate in, and use National Prescribing Centre competency framework, to undertake regular audit and review, of prescribing practice and medicines management.

Access continuing professional development opportunities relating to Non-Medical prescribing role.

Understand the mode of action and pharmacology of medicines and how these medications are altered e.g., by age, renal or hepatic impairment and how this affects dosage.

Ensure routine monitoring of physical health of children and young people (e.g., height, weight, BP) and liaise with other professionals as appropriate, including making referrals and/or request further tests.

Assess risk and benefits to the child or young person of taking or not taking medication, considering the potential for unwanted affects e.g., allergies, adverse drug reactions, drug interactions and contra indications.

Support the duty function of the service as required.

Undertake annual audit of prescribing practices
