Akton recruitment are working with a local authority to recruit a Culture, Heritage and Tourism officer to work on a 6-month contract at the Royal Borough of Greenwich. As a Culture, Heritage and Tourism Officer you will be responsible to the Deputy Culture, Heritage and Tourism manager for:

- Supporting the delivery of a culture, tourism and heritage service that delivers against the priorities and outcomes of the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
- Administering the award, procurement, monitoring and evaluation processes for the service in line with council procedures.
- Developing relationships with the Royal Greenwich cultural sector to help support organisations and individuals to contribute to a thriving culture, tourism and heritage scene within the borough.

Main duties of the role:

- Day-to-day delivery and procedures of a culture, tourism and heritage service.
- As directed by the Deputy Culture, Heritage and Tourism Manager, contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive range of innovative cultural, tourism and heritage programmes, projects and events, small and large scale, and assist in the development of initiatives to deliver the Royal Borough of Greenwich’s priorities.
- Contribute to policy development across culture, tourism and heritage through consultation, stakeholder engagement, analysing need and implementation and review.
- Administer the commissioning cycle for culture, tourism and heritage to deliver services that meet the outcomes and priorities of the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
- Manage the culture mailing list ensuring that it is GDPR compliant and that relevant organisations are signed up to it.
- Maintain and develop partnerships with cultural and creative organisations that support the development of a vibrant cultural and creative sector.
- Co-ordinate the assessment, monitoring and evaluations of the Royal Borough of Greenwich’s cultural, tourism and heritage activities against corporate and departmental performance indicators and communicate the results as appropriate.
- Work with the Council’s communications team to promote Royal Greenwich’s cultural, tourism and heritage offer to both residents and visitors.
- Represent the council at a range of meetings and events with members of the public, internal and external partners and stakeholders, acting as an ambassador for the service, ensuring that the Royal Borough’s policies, priorities, principles and standards are communicated effectively.
- Act as the deputy for the Deputy Culture, Heritage and Tourism Manager at meetings and events as and when required, managing the clients, external partners and stakeholders.
- Produce reports and briefings for the Deputy Culture, Heritage and Tourism Manager and other senior management when required, offering advice and guidance in the development and review of policy relating to arts and culture.
- Explore opportunities to attract external investment in culture, tourism and heritage and support the development of funding with Visit Greenwich and the Royal Borough of Greenwich Heritage Trust, arts organisations and other external partners.
- Contribute to the overall duties of the Events and Culture Team, including attending and supporting events as required.
- Undertake occasional evening and weekend work.
- To undertake any other work appropriate to the level and general nature of the post’s duties, including working at several locations and outside of normal office hours, including weekends.
- Where necessary for the job role or appropriate for continued development in the role, the post holder may be required to participate in training and development courses made available via the Council’s Apprentice Levy funding.
- To undertake all duties with due regard to the provisions of health and safety regulations and legislation, Data Protection/GDPR, the Council’s Equal Opportunities and Customer Care policies.
- To perform all duties in line with Council’s staff values showing commitment to improving residents lives and opportunities, demonstrating respect and fairness, taking ownership, working towards doing things better and working together across the council.
- To undertake supervision/management of staff as and when required.
- You may be required to undertake alternative, additional or ancillary duties from time to time or transfer to another service department within the Council as the Council may reasonably direct to meet service user demand in the event of a crisis or emergency.
