We looking for an experienced administrator to come and join our children and young persons ward to support the senior nursing team.

A key element of the role is to working alongside the ward manager in assisting with the management of nursing roster.

You will join a friendly team and will be responsible for daily administration duties. You will be an excellent communicator, highly organised and have a positive attitude when interacting with patients and colleagues.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and passionate individual wanting to support by providing professional and confidential administrative service, this may include co-ordination of both clinical and non-clinical activities of the ward.

You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be friendly and approachable with good telephone manner.

Able to use IT facilities for patient’s information retrieval.

Problem solving skills and ability to use own initiative to identify improvements and to use negotiating skills to implement changes

Excellent Interpersonal skills allowing effective communication between all internal and external service users

Ability to work to tight deadlines and stay calm under pressure

Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations

This will be a busy and varied role, one that requires the post holder to have a flexible approach and a calm, professional manner. You must have excellent communication skills, be highly motivated; enjoy interacting with people and being part of a busy fast paced children's ward.

You will support the Ward Manager and Nursing Teams to achieve the administrative elements of their role, and will be required to co-ordinate and streamline the delivery of admin tasks such as: coordinating staff sickness, training, e-rostering, assisting with preparing reports, gathering and populating information requests, including typing correspondence and reports, filing, photocopying and general office duties including answering the phone and directing patients and staff queries appropriately.

The ability to work accurately whilst multi-tasking is essential. Knowledge of IT systems would be advantageous though training would be given if required, previous experience in an administration environment is preferable.

This post is an ideal opportunity to develop Orthopaedic knowledge/terminology. As an individual and as part of a Team you will have the opportunity to contribute to new developments within the service, therefore the ability to implement and to adapt to change is essential.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:
Maintain and manage the Ward Sister diary / telephone messages

Receive and distribute all staff mail. Redirect mail as appropriate.

Keep diary appointments contacting relevant individuals, booking rooms, arranging hospitality, preparing papers etc., to ensure effective time management and forward planning?

Photocopy documents as required.

Obtain clinical health records to assist with complaints.

To liaise and be the contact for the Ward Sisters and senior nursing team for all issues related to IM&T.

Arrange, attend meetings and act as note taker as required.

Arrange and attend meetings, minute and take forward assigned actions as required

Typing and filing as required.

Support the Ward Manager by ordering supplies and stationery using the Trust systems available

Collate monthly quality return information from ward manager in preparation for the monthly Integrated Quality report

Assist with health roster as delegated by the ward managers once training is completed
