In this job description you will find details of the purpose and main duties and responsibilities of the Staff Wellbeing Officer. Job purpose As Staff Wellbeing Officer, you will work within the Sussex Musculoskeletal team to provide a range of physical and psychological support services for staff, including resilience and stress management, psychoeducational resources, mindfulness, and counselling service, to help with their wellbeing needs. This is a varied role, holding a portfolio of projects that may include contributing to the induction of new staff, helping our staff understand more about wellbeing at work, and working alongside colleagues to plan and facilitate team sessions designed to improve team resilience and wellbeing, You will play a key part in contributing to the wider culture, ensuring that we are creating the right conditions at work for our staff to be well, thrive, and enjoy their work. Main duties and responsibilities Clinical work 1.

Use evidence-based practice within the workplace, keeping professionally up to date and informed of new and emerging guidance & legislation that govern the legal and ethical aspects of practice. 2. Make decisions on suitability of cases, adhering to departmental referral guidelines and where appropriate, referring to relevant alternative services. 3.

Act as a Specialist Practitioner, responsible for your own caseload when required. 4. Provide support to staff within the working environment during peaks and troughs of activity. 5.

Conduct drop-ins to support colleagues in their place of work, including ad hoc visits to areas needing support. 6. Assess the suitability of those seeking help for counselling or therapy. Formulate, implement, and evaluate therapy programmes.

Deliver mental health and psychoeducational training packages around various wellbeing topics. 9. Participate and contribute to the delivery of in-service training programmes, workshops, and health and wellbeing initiatives. Travel between locations may be required to reach different groups.

10. Establish and support health surveillance programmes as required by current health and safety legislation and policies. 11. Contribute to the development and maintenance of health programmes for all staff, ensuring treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.

12. Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service, keeping coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service guidelines. 13. Ensures that accurate records of all assessments, programmes and evaluations are kept and maintained.

14. Undertake appropriate clinical risk management in relation to staff safety when required. Develop, communicate, and update effective clinical risk management plans. Leadership 1.

Demonstrate the vision and values of the service through work and behaviors. 2. Monitor weekly and monthly reports on activity and work with colleagues to ensure targets and KPIs are maintained. 3.

Act as a source of expert advice for managers and staff across the board with regards to psychoeducational programmes and development. 4. Participate in and facilitate meetings, recording and distributing minutes to teams to ensure actions are recorded. 5.

Model behaviors including the use of own initiative, working as a specialist practitioner, and working collaboratively as part of a team. 6. Set an example to the team in the highest standards of clinical practice and achieving clinical excellence. 7.

Contribute to the promotion of an organisational wide culture in which employee psychological health and wellbeing is highly valued and effectively role modelled, where staff are supported to deliver high-quality and compassionate care. 8. Undertake staff appraisals, highlighting departmental and organisational objectives. Communication and Collaborative Working 1.

Communicate effectively orally, in writing, across digital and virtual platforms, and face to face with colleagues, ensuring effective team working to meet service objectives. 2. Use a wide range of mediums, facilitation, and training techniques to provide training, presentations, and information to a range of staff across professions. 3.

Answer the telephone and greet visitors in a courteous manner, referring them to senior staff when necessary and communicating messages clearly and precisely. 4. Ensure effective communication with all members of the team and service users in a tactful and sensitive manner, always protecting confidentiality. 5.

Contribute to team meetings and provide constructive feedback to ensure communication is cascaded to teams. 6. Provide consultancy and facilitation to groups often involving emotive material. You will need to maintain a broad perspective in the face of differing opinions, managing conflict and emotions.
