Head of Business Continuity and Major Incident

Our estates professionals are involved with strategic asset management, business continuity, security, estates development and management. **Role and responsibilities**:
- Collaborate closely with the Security and Compliance teams, alongside relevant colleagues in Professional Services and the Academic community, to provide strategic direction for the University's management, development, and implementation of robust major incident/crisis preparedness and business continuity management processes.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for briefing, advising, and supporting University staff, from Senior Executives to front-line operational managers, on all aspects of Major Incident Planning and Crisis Preparedness.
- Lead the creation of risk-driven crisis preparedness audits university-wide, offering assurance to senior management through active participation in Major Incident preparedness working groups.
- Facilitate communication with external stakeholders such as the Fire and Rescue Service, Police, Local Authority, and other relevant agencies to ensure the University remains informed about local emergency and major incident plans.
- Forge partnerships with local entities including other universities, colleges, councils, and businesses to establish mutual support agreements enhancing the University's emergency and business continuity planning.
- Provide expert guidance and spearhead the University's efforts in managing, developing, implementing, and maintaining effective Major Incident Planning and Crisis Preparedness strategies.
- Oversee the review, testing, and development of Major Incident and Crisis Preparedness plans for faculties and professional services, ensuring their relevance and clarity.
- Lead the initiative to develop, test, and regularly exercise Major Incident management plans across all University departments.
- Maintain and contribute to the University's top-level risk registers while actively supporting the execution of Major Incident Planning and Crisis Preparedness initiatives.
- Act as the University Major Incident Officer (MIO) and primary point of contact for the University; ensuring that the University Major Incident Management Plan resources are maintained and that the responding teams and Incident stakeholders/responsible persons have suitable training.
