**Your purpose**:

We are looking for Engineering Technical Leaders to define, own and govern how software is delivered securely, consistently and to a high quality to give our customers the best digital experiences

Our Engineering team operates centrally to ensure all software developed by our third-party development partners across Specsavers is engineered well. The definition of well-engineered is one that follows the engineering principles, standards and policies, designed and built to with the full product lifecycle in mind.

**Your role**
- Run a set of guilds to understand the IT needs and drive the adoption of standard software design principles and development practices
- Support the development and maintenance of a library of software design patterns, principles, standardised tools and libraries
- Support the Architects and Designers to ensure software best practices and principles are considered
- Utilise extensive development experience to review in-house and third-party development artefacts
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure and maintain Specsavers technical standards
- Contribute to roadmaps for project delivery

**What you’ll bring**
- Proven track record in establishing and leading best practices
- Minimum 5 years of programming experience preferably in Java and Web development
- Broad experience designing, programming, and implementing large information systems
- Experience working with third-party vendors
- Demonstrated ability to influence others
