We are looking for qualified, highly experienced women counsellors to join our team. We offer counselling support to anyone who has experienced rape or sexual abuse at any time in their lives.

Successful applicants will join our friendly and supportive team of counsellors, staff and volunteers. We are a vibrant, forward-looking organisation with a commitment to continuous improvement and offer opportunities for continuing professional development to all team members. Sessions at SRASAC are either delivered remotely via video call or face-to-face. Due to client demand for face-to-face counselling, we are seeking a counsellor from the South Yorkshire area who is able to **primarily work from our office in Sheffield City Centre**. Bank counsellors are asked to deliver a minimum of4 client sessions per week and we ask counsellors to commit to providing sessions for a minimum duration of six months.

**Summary of role**:

- To offer one-to-one counselling to anyone over the age of 18 who has experienced rape and/or sexual abuse at any time in their lives.
- To use a trauma informed approach to counselling, contributing to a safe and ethical counselling service for the clients of SRASAC.
- To maintain accurate, confidential, and up to date records and to undertake necessary administrative tasks as required by SRASAC.
- To undertake approved clinical supervision (90 mins per month) at own expense and maintain own personal indemnity insurance

Sheffield Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre (SRASAC) is a specialist sexual violence support service offering free and confidential support to survivors who have experienced rape or sexual abuse at any times in their lives.

SRASAC currently offers:

- A dedicated confidential information and support line for anyone who wants to know more about our services.
- Specialist counselling for survivors.
- Group Work.
- Support through the criminal justice system from reporting incidents to the police through the investigations and to trial, via our Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) service for everyone - children, young people and adults (no age limits to this service).

We aim to provide a non-judgmental, trauma informed service to clients informed by our understanding of the intersectional and compounding effects of discrimination due to racism, class, poverty, gender identity (including trans people), gender non conformism, disability, sexuality or immigrant status. **Main responsibilities**:

- Providing one to one confidential counselling sessions to clients on a face-to-face basis. This will involve high level trauma counselling skills to establish a relationship and work appropriately with clients who are experiencing or have experienced rape or sexual abuse.
- Identifying clients who may be at risk, drawing appropriately on internal and external resources to minimise and contain these risks.
- Maintaining confidential, accurate and up to date case notes and records in line with relevant SRASAC’s policies and procedures.
- Fitting other commitments, e.g. supervision and administration, around the caseload.

- To work within the BACP (or equivalent professional bodies) Ethical Framework
- To undertake personal development and training as appropriate

**Interested parties should have the following**:

- A recognised professional qualification in counselling (MA/MSc or Equivalent) - Accreditation with the BACP, UKCP or equivalent professional body.
- Substantial post-qualification experience of individual counselling - minimum of 1000 hours or 2-3 years' experience in a full-time clinical post.
- Expertise and prior experience in working with issues around rape and/or sexual abuse and/or related traumas, in a therapeutic setting.
- A commitment to working within the BACP (or equivalent) Ethical Guidelines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work under own initiative, and with minimum of supervision, to manage own caseload effectively. To work flexibly and adapt to the changing needs of the client and SRASAC.
- A high level of confidentiality and discretion to maintain appropriate boundaries with all stakeholders.
- Understanding and commitment to working within an anti-oppressive framework.
- The ability to work as part of a team and liaise with other agencies and workers.
- Experience of working with clients from diverse backgrounds.
