An amazing opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Specialist Practitioner in Colorectal Surgery to join a team of dedicated clinicians delivering cancer treatment to patients across Lancashire and South Cumbria. This is a perfect development opportunity for a senior nurse with experience in Colorectal Surgery to work alongside a fantastic and welcoming team. Could this be you?

The successful applicant for this job role would be supported to develop their clinical and leadership skills. A tailor made programme of development would be undertaken dependent on skillset and experience. We would expect you to either be educated to masters level or willing to undertake a masters in Advanced Clinical Practice. This would be complimented by a supportive consultant mentor and the development of specific competencies.

To practice autonomously with a high level of accountability at a specialist clinical level in the direct delivery of high quality care, making critical clinical decisions based on specialist clinical skills assessment.

Plan and manage complete episodes of care, working in partnership with others and delegating and referring as appropriate to optimise health outcomes and resource use, as well as providing direct support to patients and clients.

To provide clear leadership and direction to support both the medical and nursing teams acting as a role model for the Trust, presenting a positive image to patients and staff.

Advocate and contribute to the development of an organisational culture that supports continuous learning and development, evidence-based practice and succession
planning.

Critically engage in research activity, adhering to good research practice guidance, so that evidence based strategies are developed and applied to enhance quality, safety, productivity and value for money.

You will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, with the potential to work across specialities to ensure that every patient referred into the rapid diagnostic centre receives quality care. As an autonomous practitioner, they will be responsible for developing and leading a comprehensive service for managing patients who are referred into the colorectal service on a two week rule pathway.
