An excellent and exciting opportunity has arisen within our Acute Respiratory service. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our Expanding Respiratory team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

You will work closely as part of our dynamic respiratory team within the Trust.

Ultimately the Practitioner will act as an expert resource and senior clinical nursing lead providing leadership and consultancy alongside the Respiratory Clinical Director, the Consultant Team and Respiratory Nurse Specialists to develop and implement best practice in the management of Respiratory and COPD patients. Respiratory services at LTHTR are undergoing change due to Covid and also being part of a transformation of which this role will be able to assist with development of new pathways and service development and the Respiratory Virtual ward project.

The Practitioner will act as an expert resource and senior clinical lead by providing leadership and consultancy as well as develop and implement best practice in the management of Respiratory conditions in accordance with local and national policies. The Practitioner will be utilising advanced skills and knowledge to assess, manage and treat patients with a respiratory presentation.

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the major acute Trusts in the North West with all of the usual specialties on site but is also a Tertiary Centre for Lancashire and South Cumbria. Respiratory services at LTHTR consist of Tertiary Asthma, ILD and Pulmonary Interventions services, alongside, COPD, TB, Sleep, Cancer and other respiratory conditions. The team consists of 11 Consultants across 2 sites providing a 7 day service for respiratory patients. There are opportunities to develop COPD services and expanding into a Respiratory Assessment unit to reduce length of stay.

Consideration will be given to a suited individual with extensive knowledge and experience in respiratory medicine. Who is looking for a new challenge, to further develop existing skills and knowledge within the field as a trainee advance practitioner. Trainee practitioners will be expected to commence MSc in Advance Clinical Practice or currently working towards qualification.
- Provide an optimum level of care for patients with Respiratory conditions and COPD by providing expert care, management plans, advice and education for patients and their carers as an independent practitioner and prescriber in partnership with the medical staff and other Allied Health professionals.
- Responsible for assessing, implementing and evaluating programmes of care, which will support the patient by providing equitable, efficient, effective high quality service, enabling the patient to improve their health and wellbeing.
- To lead the management of care for patients within Respiratory; providing lead support in the Respiratory clinic, supporting patients where appropriate in their homes
- Provide specialist advice, counselling and support for patients, carers and other health care professionals within primary and secondary care.
- Playing an active role in the maintenance and development of the quality of service provided within the Trust by participating in service development initiatives and audits of the service provided.
- To assist in the development of care policies, procedures, protocols and standards in relation to the Respiratory Service provided within the Trust and local ICS
- To develop a partnership with Palliative care services and facilitate in the implementation of a Palliative Care approach to patients with advanced Respiratory conditions
