Based at Central Middlesex Hospital in Brent, the elective orthopaedic centre will see over 4,000 Londoners a year for routine bone and joint surgery.

The North West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre is an exciting collaboration between the four acute healthcare providers in north west London.

The north west London acute provider collaborative is made of up of TeamLNWH, Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, Imperial Collage Healthcare NHS Trust, and The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We’re looking for a permanent, highly skilled, specialist team of healthcare professionals to care for our patients in theatres and in recovery.

The Senior Recovery Practitioner has a strong knowledge and experience in recovery unit with an excellent understanding of the perioperative needs of patients and a wide knowledge of peri-operative nursing practices and procedures.

You must be organised, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and experience of supervising a team providing the highest standard of patient care across a caseload of post thoracic surgery and urology cases.

As a senior practitioner, you will be required to function effectively as the nurse in charge of the recovery unit to ensure the provision of and efficient and high-quality surgical service.

Ensure a welcoming, caring, and safe environment, as well as promoting, maintaining and monitoring standards in accordance with the guidelines of the NMC/HCPC and CQC.

Evidence of leading teams, supervising new starters/ junior staff/ students, and supporting programme of learning.

We are a university teaching NHS trust, in recognition of the important role we play in training clinicians of the future and bringing the benefits of research to the public.

As a senior recovery practitioner, you will be responsible for the post-operative care of patients following surgery in the recovery area.

You will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating programmes of care including admission and discharge planning for each patient in the recovery area without direct supervision.

You will supervise and support qualified and unqualified staff, ensuring that all staff is able to provide the highest standard of care and promoting best evidence-based practice.

To promote and maintain effective communication with the members of the multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with the medical team on post-operative care and facilitating timely interventions.

To update the patient medical records and to report any incidents in line with the Trust policies.

To demonstrate leadership skills and experience in the management of the unit by taking charge of the recovery department in the absence of the Lead Practitioner.
