Clinical Psychologist Band 8a, Community CAMHS (Permanent, 37.5 hours per week)Applications will also be considered as part of a preceptorship approach to transition into the senior role.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist wanting to develop their expertise and experience as senior clinicians within an expanding specialist CAMHS service.

You will join existing clinical psychologists, 2.6 wte and be part of a multidisciplinary team including nursing, psychiatry, and a broad range of psychological therapists and family support workers.

You will also join an integrated, friendly, and supportive group of 17 Clinical Psychologists working across the Nottingham City and conurbation multi-disciplinary CAMHs; including Children Looked After services. There are good opportunities for CPD, strong mechanisms for support and good links with the DClinpsy courses at Trent, Sheffield and Leicester University.

The post holder will contribute to the assessment and intervention for children and young people up to 18 years across a broad range of presentations within the Community & Specialist CAMHS team. There will be particular emphasis on providing clinical support structures through supervision, consultation, and training across Community CAMHS.

Knowledge of neurodevelopmental difficulties, attachment theory, trauma and cognitive functioning will be important.

Applicants are required to hold a post graduate doctorate in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS and have Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration. Experience in working with children, young people, their families /carers and supporting networks is essential.

Applications will also be considered as part of a preceptorship approach to transition into the senior role. There will be opportunities for ongoing CPD.

1. To provide specialist psychological assessment of clients referred to the Community CAMHS team, based on the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of highly complex psychological data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews. This includes assessment as part of a multi-disciplinary team where extremely complex systemic presentations demand extensive assessment.
2. To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of clients with complex mental health problems and employ strong evidenced based practice.
3. To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for clients, their families and care systems. To monitor and evaluate client progress during the course of both uni
- and multi-disciplinary care and to be responsible for adjustments and refinements to psychological formulations drawing upon different psychological models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
4. To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options, taking into account current theoretical and therapeutic models and also highly complex factors concerning developmental difficulties, chronic illness, and historical processes that have affected the young person, family or care system.
5. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients.
6. To provide specialist psychological advice and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to client’s formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan. This would include the dissemination of psychology research and theory.
