The Dorothy Crowfoot Hodgkin Building (DCHB) is occupied by the Department of Biochemistry and the Kavli Institute for NanoScience Discovery. It is currently the largest research building in the University housing ~950 research staff and students. In addition to specialist research laboratories, it houses a range of specialist small research facilities, write-up spaces, study spaces, seminar rooms, meeting rooms, offices, a computer lab, lecture theatre, café, kitchenettes and arrival spaces.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Facilities Management for the DCHB, where you will lead a team in the delivery and development of facilities and building management services befitting the evolving requirements of world leading research and teaching.

**About the Role**

In this role you will be the main point of contact for all building, equipment and FM matters, ensuring provision of effective and responsive services, within budget.

You will be responsible for building security and associated systems, as well as the leadership and line management of the facilities, reception and central stores/goods inwards teams.

You will manage key contracts with external suppliers, including building, engineering and technical maintenance, catering, cleaning, gas supplies, autoclaving and waste disposal, ensuring excellent service delivery and value for money.

You will build strong working relationships to work effectively with partners, internal and external, to deliver refurbishment and building projects, manage moves within the building and ensure a safe working environment for everyone in the building.

**About You**

Proven facilities management experience, strong organisational skills and development of operating processes and procedures within a large, complex research environment

Leadership and team management skills

Ability to think strategically, manage competing interests and plan for the evolving needs of researchers and staff

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to engage appropriately with staff across a range of levels and with tact and diplomacy.
