Main Purpose of the Job: The Clinical Lead will ensure at all times the client is at the centre of all our actions and act as role model for clinical staff. The Clinical Lead has accountability for the Gateshead PCN Mental Health Service for the efficient and effective operational management of the workforce, guaranteeing provision of high quality evidence based practice which will be deliver in a community setting. The Clinical Lead will provide strong clinical leadership within the services and be highly visible and accessible to staff.

Leading by example they will drive up standards of clinical care; have the responsibility and authority to get the essential components of care right for clients, ensuring clients are treated with dignity and respect; resolving problems for clients and relatives and ensuring high standards are maintained and delivered throughout the services. They will have a particular responsibility to support the developments of Clinical Governance and Service Improvement, to modernise client services and ensure the active involvement of clients and carers in the way services are developed, delivered and evaluated. The Clinical Lead will lead in the developments of the PCN Mental Health service. The Clinical Lead will be a core member of the Directorate team supporting the development and delivery of high standard clinical services that holds clients and their families at the centre.

The Clinical Lead will ensure the implementation of robust systems and processes that provide the highest quality of service within a robust assurance framework. The Clinical Lead will provide support to the Business Manager in the delivery of continuous improvement, cost improvement and efficiency across the directorate The Clinical Lead will provide support to the Business Manager in delivery of contractual performance and key national and local performance indicators The Clinical Lead will provide support to the Head of Nursing and Matrons to ensure high standard of clinical practice supported by evidence based practice and NICE guidance. The Clinical Lead will contribute to identifying and managing issues of poor performance, risk and complaints. The Clinical Lead will promote and share best practice and encourage personal development.

The Clinical Lead will facilitate the development of clinical expertise and advanced clinical practice in the team. The Clinical Lead will work autonomously as and when required, assessing individual client needs, initiating investigations, determining a plan of care and initiating appropriate holistic research based health information and care. The Clinical Lead will work collaboratively with multi professional teams to ensure practice is efficient, effective, evidence based and safe. The Clinical Lead will act as a resource of all members of the multi-disciplinary team proving expert clinical advice concerning aspects of client management.

The Clinical Lead will improve the client journey by increasing access to assessment and appropriate care and treatment. In undertaking the duties for this post the post holder must comply with the NMC Code or relevant professional body. The Clinical Lead will uphold and ensure Trust values are implemented and monitored to provide assurance that clinical staff behave in a professional manner.
