This role is only suitable to an experienced nurse who has previosly worked as a live kidney donor coordinator. As a live donor CNS you will facilitate the promotion, development and enhancement of a living kidney donation programme in order to maximise this option for patients with end stage renal failure who are being treated within the Trust, and provide support for all potential families during this process.

You will provide specialist nursing advice regarding both living donation and kidney transplantation to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and their families/carers, attending the Trust, either as inpatients or outpatients in collaboration with the multi professional team, in line with the local and national targets.

The post holder will also act as a resource to other professionals on living donation and kidney transplantation and will work closely with other members of the transplant team and external agencies.
- Provision of specialist, high quality, expert nursing care and support for living kidney donors and pre
- transplant recipients and their carers in liaison with the multidisciplinary team(s) and other health agencies.
- To act as a resource for patients and the clinical team by the provision of comprehensive advice, information, teaching and training both within the Trust and externally.
- Undertake, where appropriate, nursing research with published outcomes, updating own knowledge to promote excellence in clinical practice and the setting of quality standards within the renal transplant speciality.
- Contribute in audit processes. As part of the team, formulate an annual report/clinical audit of own CNS service and outcomes.
- Active involvement in the development of the service locally and nationally
