As a National Investigation officer, you will support the CQC (Care Quality Commission) National Investigators and Representation Inspectors to undertake tasks essential to the delivery of high-quality criminal and civil investigations.

You will mitigate risk to people who use services and to CQC by assisting the Investigation Team and Representation team to respond promptly and progress criminal and civil cases in a timely way.

You will actively engage with all parts of the CQC, internal and external stakeholders, that contribute to the delivery of efficient and timely investigations.

The role will be pivotal in supporting criminal enforcement responsibility of CQC and supporting the Quality Improvement work currently underway in this area of the business

**What you will bring**

Educated to A Level or equivalent, you’ll have knowledge or background awareness of the legal environment and an understanding of the criminal justice process, along with knowledge of PACE (Police and Criminal Evidence) Codes.

With excellent communication skills, proven experience in evidence reviews or case file preparation, you will facilitate the smooth and timely progression of criminal and civil cases by supporting the National Enforcement Team.

You will be CPIA trained or willing to undertake this training.

Importantly, you will be motivated and enthusiastic about working as part of a team contributing towards protecting service users from harm, and holding registered persons to account for failures in care.

**Accountabilities**:
The National Investigator Officer (NIO) will work alongside and directly support the work of National Enforcement Team (NET). They will undertake a range of tasks that would otherwise be undertaken by a National Investigator or Representation Inspector, releasing their time, and making better use of their expertise and skills.

To support the National Investigators (NI) by gathering and collating evidence including contributing to its review and corroboration to ensure continuity, integrity, and reliability of evidence.
