Coventry, United Kingdom Coventry Building Society Full time

About the roleReporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer, the Society has a rare opportunity for a MRLO/Head of Financial Crime Oversight to join us.

This role fulfils the SM&CR regulatory responsibilities of the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (SMF-17) and ensures the Society continues to have robust measures in place with both controls and systems to counter financial crime risks including money laundering, terrorist financing and fraud.

You’ll ensure that the business stays up to date with the changing world of financial crime and ensure systems and controls remain commensurate with the Society’s developing business model.
- About youYou’ll be an established Deputy MLRO/MLRO, and as an experienced leader, you’ll be used to engaging effectively with Regulators and operating and influencing at Executive and Board level.

Your extensive financial crime and Anti-Money Laundering knowledge gained from experience in leading Financial Crime oversight at senior level in retail banking, will mean that maintaining the confidence of relevant external bodies, and law enforcement agencies such as the NCA where appropriate will be second nature.

Your ability to build trust quickly will be critical, as you’ll chair the Society’s Whistleblowing Committee. You’ll also ensure that business areas focus on managing financial crime risk with senior leaders, whilst leading the creation of training and awareness programmes across the Society covering anti-money laundering and combatting the risk of internal and external fraud.

As the Owner of Anti-Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing, Facilitation of Tax Evasion & Sanctions Risk Management Policy, the Fraud Risk Management Policy and the Anti-Bribery & Corruption Risk Policy, which are agreed annually with the Board Risk Committee, you’ll ensure that the Society has strong controls in place in every business area.
- About usAs a mutual, we’ve always worked together to improve the lives of others. Now one of the largest building societies in the UK, over 3,000 of us share that goal, in our branches and Head Office. Our benefits go beyond basic pay, with a discretionary bonus scheme, a culture of reward and recognition and total support for our wellbeing.

We’re serious about equity of race, age, faith, disability and sexual orientation, but also of personality and the way we think. By being yourself, you’ll make us stronger.

You can build so much more than a career. Come and make a difference in our Society, that’s been voted a ‘Great Place to Work’ by our team.
