Job Title: Crime & Regulatory Assistant Lawyer

About the Role:
The Assistant Solicitor will support our Crime and Regulatory Team, led by Tim Ingram, in handling motor crime, inquests, and regulatory cases, often from the initial incident. This will involve investigating the incident circumstances, supporting clients, taking statements, and attending interviews under caution, while assisting with the case resolution.

Role Highlights:
This technical and client-facing role requires a well-rounded assistant lawyer with a keen interest in building client relationships through training and mentoring, as well as delivering high-quality legal solutions to complex problems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze prosecution evidence, considering implications for lay clients or companies.
  • Draft statements of insured witnesses.
  • Review client evidence, obtaining, collating, and cross-referencing statements with prosecution evidence, summarizing for lead handlers.
  • Liaise with the Court, Coroner's Office, and relevant regulators.
  • Work with experts, instructing, summarizing, and serving reports.
  • Prepare and serve defense case statements, sentencing bundles, and mitigation bundles.
  • Draft written submissions following client input.
  • Communicate with clients regarding prosecution cases and disclosure needs.
  • Review transcripts of evidence.
  • Organize and attend conferences and meetings, drafting notes and following agreed strategies.
  • Represent clients at interviews under caution and trials/inquests, drafting notes and summaries.
  • Arrange meetings, conferences, site visits, and expert appointments.
  • Compile and prepare evidence bundles.
  • Review medical records, post-mortem reports, and CCTV footage.
  • Conduct site visits, take photos, and draft basic statements.
  • Research relevant HSE guidelines and client information.
  • Ensure compliance with SRA standards and regulations.
  • Prepare written reports and advice for clients.

Requirements:
  • A qualified Solicitor with motor crime experience.
  • Prioritize workload efficiently.
  • Attention to detail is essential.
  • Proficient in case management systems.
  • Excellent client-facing skills, particularly in sensitive situations.
  • Good communication and telephone skills.
  • Calm under pressure and self-confident.
  • Strong team player with flexibility to adapt to needs.
