**Funeral Administrator**

**Portishead**

**Full-time, Permanent role (part-time considered)**

**Salary £24,500 - £27,000 depending on experience.**

5th Generation family run Funeral Directors based in Portishead are seeking a confident, highly efficient Funeral Administrator to join their small, friendly team. Once trained, the role will involve taking the first call, meeting families to make the necessary funeral arrangements, completing all associated administration paperwork and coordinating with the various parties involved. This is a varied and interesting Administration role requiring sensitivity and diplomacy whilst supporting the families throughout the whole process.

Reporting to the Funeral Manager, you will be supported with training and there will always be someone to ask, if unsure. Good IT skills and telephone manner is essential. The Funeral Administrator will be approachable, personable and have an abundance of initiative. The ability to adapt, remain calm and to empathise is also key to this important role.

**Duties of the Funeral Administrator include:

- Meeting with the families to discuss all arrangements (once trained), building rapport, assessing their needs providing advice and guidance, showing care and compassion throughout the process.
- Ensuring all paperwork is completed with accuracy, using a standard arrangement sheet to ensure no detail is missed.
- Following set procedures to ensure the family’s needs are met
- Liaison with vicars, church wardens, doctors, hospitals, coroners’ officers, newspapers, florists, grave diggers, councils, crematoriums, organist, and all other company offices.
- Production of estimates and invoices and dealing with any associated queries.
- Administer donations monies including closing and forwarding to charities and families.
- Manage the families’ requests regarding jewellery and personal belongings.
- Keep the office and back rooms clean, neat, and tidy.

- Superb organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise and re-prioritise tasks throughout the day, as and if required.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills both verbally and in writing
- Resilience and strength of character to deal with the emotional side of the role
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel)
- Practical and methodical with high standards of integrity
- Confidential and compassionate
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a supportive team
