BBC Radio Sheffield is looking for a part time broadcast co-ordinator and receptionist to join the dynamic team for three days per week. You’ll receive full training along our existing team and will work on scheduling staff rotas, processing monthly payments as well as being front of house one day per week on reception dealing with calls and visits from members of the public. It’s a varied and important role, Working behind the scenes you will help organise things so staff are in the right place at the right time, training is up to date and everyone gets paid the right amount on time.

Main Responsibilities
Covering Rotherham, Doncaster, Chesterfield and Barnsley as well as the city of Sheffield we have a diverse and vibrant transmission area of more than 1.3 million people. Working alongside presenters, producers and journalists responsible for more than a hundred hours of radio per week it’s a varied role which will might see you booking hotel rooms and equipment for an outside broadcast one minute and doing an induction for a new staff member the next.

We’re looking for an administrator who is highly organised and resilient. You’ll work alongside the management team overseeing the local priorities within the local radio network - at a time of change and growth. Broadcasting is a fast paced and ever changing environment so there is never a dull moment. You’ll learn to manage and oversee our staff rotas - learning about all the roles and how we work with continuing and freelance staff. And you’ll thrive on making last minute changes and adjustments when the editorial need arises. You’ll play a key role in introducing new staff to the business and help with their induction. You’ll record absence and sickness methodically and process monthly payments accurately and on time to ensure staff get paid. You’ll have a good overview of the building maintenance and processes for health and safety and first aid. You’ll also learn to manage staff training records and be able to book courses, accommodation and transport for staff. One day per week you’ll also be covering our reception - a front of house role fielding calls and visits from members of the public.

You’ll be a people person with great communication skills - you will be comfortable dealing with lots of different people from different backgrounds and in different situations. You’ll be a welcoming front door to the BBC in Sheffield and an advocate for staff on site.

You’ll be highly organised and have some experience of scheduling staff according to business priorities. You’ll have good administration skills and ideally some experience with systems like SAP and programs like excel, training will be provided where needed.

Mostly, you’ll be resilient and flexible and able to thrive in a fast paced, ever changing workplace. You’ll enjoy change and be able to adapt to the next challenge quickly.

This role is three days a week initially with the potential for extra shifts for holiday cover and increasing hours in the future.
