**About the role**:
The Communications and Engagement Officer will support the delivery of first-class communications and engagement strategies and plans for Elexon to support the delivery of its strategy, directly managing some communications and engagement activities that promote, enhance, and protect the organisation's internal and external brand and reputation.
Reporting to a Senior Communications and Engagement Manager, and serving as an integral member of the team, the Communications and Engagement Officer will be an ambassador for the department and organisation and will support the team as they build relationships with key stakeholders; both internally and externally.
This role is part of a team responsible for internal and external communications, media and social, brand management, colleague and stakeholder engagement and managing events. This challenging, broad-ranging role offers the opportunity to gain greater experience in delivering great communications and stakeholder engagement. You will assist in the successful delivery of both individual and team-based projects. This role will cover both internal and external communications, stakeholder engagement, social media and events and there will be occasions where you will need to support your team members on all types of communications and events.
The Communications and Engagement Officer will play a role in ensuring our communications and engagement activities are influential, informative and engaging for the full range of our stakeholders.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Managing content planner for Elexon’s communication channels, identifying potential news stories and working across teams to plan and develop content.
- Drafting, editing and publishing content through Elexon’s communication channels, including its weekly newsletters, website, Twitter and LinkedIn feeds.
- Plan, create and write multi-media communications materials.
- Track, measure, and report on the effectiveness of Elexon’s communication channels.
- Day-to-day management, development, promotion and organisation of Elexon’s event schedule including registrations, cancellations, customer queries and event set up and on-the-day event management.
- Compile, write and produce the weekly newsletters for Elexon when required.
- Work with colleagues across the organisation to support their use of Elexon’s website and communication channels.
- Support development of brand materials.
- Lead in relationship management with our company charities plus organising and promoting fundraising activities.
- Manage the Stakeholder Engagement plan to ensure engagement with our stakeholders is timely and consistent.
- Identify potential opportunities to engage our stakeholders on key topics and areas of interest.
- Work with colleagues around the business, to create and maintain a suite of materials to be used with stakeholders.

**Knowledge, skills and experience**:
**Essential**:

- Less than two years’ experience in a communications role.
- Good written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated experience in writing for the web and newsletters.
- Strong events management skills with experience in internal and external events.
- Accurate, with attention to detail and with a strong customer service focus and a ‘can do’ attitude.
- Willingness to learn and get involved.
- Experience using Adobe design software - Photoshop or InDesign, WordPress and Poppulo/Newsweaver software.

**Desirable**:

- Photo/video editing skills.
- Experience in creating, organising and hosting webinars.

**Outputs/Assessment**:

- Robust content planner for Elexon’s communication channels, which identifies potential news stories
- Published material through Elexon’s multiple communication channels, including its weekly newsletters, website, Twitter and LinkedIn feeds. Attaining positive feedback from Customers in the Annual Elexon Customer Survey
- Communications materials that are picked up by trade press and media outlets
- Demonstrable evidence of the effectiveness of Elexon’s communication channels - through website insight.
- Feedback on Elexon’s event - as assessed via attendee feedback forms
- Attain positive feedback from the staff weekly newsletter through the Elexon employee survey
- Robust Stakeholder Engagement plan to ensure engagement with our stakeholders is timely and consistent.
