Good standard of education, at least 5 GCSEs including English and Mathematics

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL
Experience of working with vulnerable people who need support
Experience and understanding of different cultures and beliefs
Experience of assessing people's needs
Experience of developing support plans
Knowledge of data protection and risk identification matters

DESIRABLE
Experience of assisting people with grant claims and welfare matters
Experience of assisting people to maintain tenancy
Experience of working in the housing field

SKILLS AND SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE

ESSENTIAL
Good communication skills
Full driving licence, and use of a vehicle
Able to deal with the clients' personal circumstances sensitively, confidently and confidentially
Understand and respect varying religious and cultural backgrounds
Good computer skills, experience of working with IT systems, Microsoft.

DESIRABLE
Knowledge of Welfare Benefit systems
Write reports and retain detailed minutes
Counselling and supporting skills
Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety matters
Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding matters

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Speaking and Listening - Advanced
Ability to follow a conversation or discussion through the medium of Welsh and English on a professional level and discuss general day-to-day topics in the field in order to present information and express opinions. Able to provide a presentation that has been prepared beforehand and respond to any comments and questions on it through the medium of Welsh and English.

Reading and Understanding - Advanced
Ability to understand standard written Welsh and English,; both formal and informal. Able to gather information from various sources such as letters, reports and articles in Welsh and English in order to fulfil the post.

Writing - Advanced
Present written information confidently by letter, more detailed and technical report formats, and respond to written requests conveying information, ideas and opinions through the medium of Welsh and English. (Assistance is available to check the language.)

Purpose of Post.
- Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the centre of everything we do.

Provide support to refugee families who have resettled in Gwynedd, assisting them to maintain a tenancy, providing support and advice to become independent and self-sufficient, and helping them to integrate into the community.

Responsibility for Resources.. e.g. staff, finance, equipment
- IT resources for the post (laptop, mobile phone)

Main Duties.
- Support refugees to resettle by providing information and appropriate advice.
- Encourage and support individuals on the programme to live their lives as fully and as independently as possible within their local community by providing information, and appropriate practical support.
- Help to promote independence, coping and understanding of life in the UK and adapting to a different culture.
- Develop and implement support plans for refugees, and monitor and review them regularly in order to report to the Line Manager.
- Provide practical support to the refugees on a regular basis, through home visits and by telephone, to help them get to know the local community, learn the language and maintain their tenancy.
- Help the refugees to contact, register and make relevant arrangements for the property with service providers such as Water, Gas, and Electricity, and assist families to understand their financial responsibilities.
- Help refugees to register with the Department for Work and Pensions, as required, and provide help with benefits, along with managing budgets and debts and referring to specialist support
