Clinical Coding Data Quality Lead

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Clinical Coding Department for a Clinical Coding Data Quality Lead who will lead in the expansion of the current robust audit programme, undertaking regular department wide audits for speciality/clinical areas and the development of a robust validation programme.
The post holder will be an essential member of the senior management team of the Clinical Coding Service and will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of best practices and processes to ensure the highest quality of clinically coded data across the Health Board.
As the Clinical Coding department works towards more digital ways of working, we are looking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic individual for the above position.
The post holder will join our growing innovative team and play a key role in identifying areas for improvement, assisting in the development and implementation of best practices and processes.
The post holder will be an essential member of the senior management team and must have the ability to lead and motivate others.

This is a full-time position based at Royal Gwent Hospital, with expectation that you will work from other sites when required. You will have the opportunity for hybrid and flexible working.
The post holder will be an essential member of the senior management team of the Clinical Coding Service and will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of best practices and processes to ensure timely and the highest quality across the Health Board.
To work with senior medical staff, at all levels of the organisation to ensure that they understand their importance in the clinical coding process and what they can do to support and improve the accuracy, completeness, and timelines of clinical coding.
In conjunction with the coding management team will ensure the accurate, timely and complete clinical coding of all episodes of care for patients cared for by ABUHB using internationally recognised coding structures approved by the World Health Organisation and adopted by NHS Wales.
Represent ABUHB on various national groups and will actively support new initiates and contribute to national initiatives to improve clinical coding across Wales.
Act as a source of expertise on a wide range of compliance issues, providing specialist advice and assistance to staff on areas of complex codes of practice and regulations.
- Applicants not in possession of the Auditor qualification will be expected to work towards the qualification and achieve a successful outcome within an agreed timescale and must ensure they maintain status.
