**Background**:
The Violence and Society Centre (VASC) is a flagship interdisciplinary and international Centre for research on violence. This research post is to provide assistance with a research project exploring whether the definition of domestic abuse, as set out in the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, should be lowered to include 13-16-year-olds.

The work will involve a rapid evidence review to enable the Adolescent Domestic Abuse Working Group (ADAWG) to synthesize existing research and data. The review will help the group to identify gaps in the knowledge on domestic abuse among teenagers and to prioritise and design future collaborations and research.

**Responsibilities**:
Screening: It is anticipated that the first task for the research assistant(s) will be title and abstract screening, which involves reading the titles and abstracts of dozens of records, mainly journal articles, to see if they meet the review's inclusion/exclusion criteria.

The second task and second stage of the screening process will be full text screening, where the post holder will read full texts of those records that made it through the first stage of screening, again to see if they meet the review's inclusion/exclusion criteria.

If the full text screening is completed, additional responsibilities will include:

- data extraction
- risk of bias assessments / quality appraisal
- synthesis and analysis of extracted data
- assisting with the presentation and communication of findings

**Person Specification**:
Applicants should be currently enrolled in a relevant postgraduate course (criminology, sociology, law, health or other) and have demonstrable research experience.
