These are Bank positions and the shift is for 6-8 hours per month various shift patterns.

Could you educate and support others, while contributing to improving NHSGGC services in the future?
The post holder will undertake community engagement to understand the experience of and barriers to accessing NHSGGC health services, including vaccination programmes among individuals from black and minority ethnic backgrounds, and those living in poverty.

The post holder will have a genuine passion for improving access to services and opportunities for people from under-represented communities. They will also have an understanding of the issues experienced by people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds and those from areas of high deprivation including barriers to access and addressing additional needs.
The post will involve direct engagement with a wide range of communities and individuals, and will require experience of community engagement.
Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills are required
**About the role**:
These innovative roles have been developed specifically for individuals from communities that could benefit from help and support in accessing Health Services in mind. You’ll be working with a Peer Co-ordinator to engage with and educate communities on specific topics, taking a human rights approach. You will use knowledge gained from on-going training and support to educate communities and promote specific services. Recognise the impact of living in poverty and offer practical guidance and support to help mitigate this. You will collect feedback which will help NHSGGC improve its services and ways in which people access them. You may be working with people in distress, you will need to be emotionally and mentally resilient. You’ll be expected to address community groups and will be given training on the most effective way to so this. You will receive induction, training and on-going supervision, including a network of other peer workers employed within NHSGGC.

**What you’ll do**:
Build supportive and respectful relationships with individuals and community groups.

Support others using your personal experience and confidence gained from ongoing training and support.

Provide information and promote specific NHSGGC health services.

Discuss the impact of, and offer support to mitigate poverty and maximise income.

Gather feedback which will be used to improve services.

Contribute to the development of the peer worker programme and role within NHSGGC.

**What you’ll need**:
An interest in local communities and a desire to help others.

Resilience, and the ability to know when to ask for help.

An understanding of issues and barriers facing BME communities and those living in areas of high socioeconomic deprivation.

Good communication skills.

The ability to work well in a team.

Empathy, good listening skills, approachability and common sense.

An understanding of the need for confidentiality.
