Recruit 2 You are currently working with an innovative manufacturing company based in South Normanton, Alfreton. Currently, they are looking for a Risk Improvement Officer on a Fixed Term Contract for 3 months

**Your responsibilities as the new Risk Improvement Officer**:

- Work with the site H&S Officer to prioritise a list of tasks, by risk exposure, that require a risk assessment.
- Identify who may be harmed and how whilst considering the likelihood and severity from these established risks.
- Prioritise our established risks and propose sensible but effective measures to remove/reduce or mitigate the risks from being realised.
- Look for any scope within our processes which promote safe systems whilst considering innovation and efficiency opportunities.
- Clearly document our findings and prepare priority action plans using a risk-based approach.
- Engage our workforce throughout the process and keep precise records on this consultation mechanism.

**Required skills as the new Risk Improvement Officer**:

- Have a good understanding of manufacturing processes/activities, ideally in plastic manufacturing
- Hold the ability to identify the critical elements, hazards, and risks within our processes/activities.
- Be able to view a process/activity without prejudice
- Be able to form practical, effective, pragmatic, and realistic solutions in relation to risk.
- Have excellent communication skills with all levels of staff
- Be organised, thorough, methodical, and driven in your approach.
- Capable of Identifying and considering the potential for ill-health (both acute and chronic) effects associated within a process/activity.
- Be able to establish and give consideration to both the routine and the non-routine activities within a process (i.e. - rare production requirements/maintenance activities)
- Be able to accurately document findings and outcomes

**Desirable knowledge & required Education**:

- Have a detailed knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Legislation
- Be able to identify potential environmental hazards and risks
- Be able to demonstrate previous experience in hazard identification and risk control processes (Risk Assessments/Method Statements etc)
- Have a recognised award in Occupational Health & Safety Management/Risk Assessment
- NEBOSH General Certificate (Minimum)
