Live in Carer

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated live-in care assistant to provide support to a vibrant lady in her 40's who is living with type 1 diabetes. The care assistant will play a crucial role in assisting her with daily activities and ensuring her overall well-being. Additionally, the role involves taking care of her beloved dog and participating in various activities to enhance her quality of life.
**Responsibilities**:
- Provide prompting and assistance to the lady, including medication management, monitoring blood sugar levels, and ensuring a healthy daily routine.
- Collaborate with medical professionals to ensure her diabetes management plan is followed accurately.
- Plan and organise engaging activities that align with her interests and abilities, promoting physical and mental well-being.
- Accompany the lady on outings and appointments, ensuring her safety and comfort.
- Take responsibility for the care of her dog, including feeding, walking, and providing companionship.
- Maintain a clean and organised living environment.
- Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere that respects her dignity, preferences, and independence.
**Requirements**:
- Prior experience in caregiving, particularly for individuals with diabetes, is preferred.
- Knowledge of type 1 diabetes management, including blood sugar monitoring and insulin administration.
- Compassionate, patient, and respectful attitude towards the lady's needs and wishes.
- Ability to adapt to a flexible working schedule, including 4 or 5 weeks on duty followed by one week off.
- Strong organisational skills to plan activities and manage daily routines effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with both the lady and her medical team.
- Comfortable with caring for a dog and ensuring its well-being.
- Respect for the lady's privacy and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
