Employee Relations Specialist

To lead all ER case management, coordinating ER activity within the People BP team, and being the point of liaison for managers on all cases
- Use case law to make risk assessments on the handling of complex/sensitive cases and educate the BP team/wider business as relevant
- Update ER tracker on a regular basis to report on ER case volume
- Produce content for employee relations skills training and deliver workshops/training to upskill managers on technical ER skills, as appropriate, liaising with our L&D team to link into the wider manager development programme.
- Provide first-line support to the business on all aspects of ER, including sickness absence, grievances, disciplinaries, performance management and misconduct cases, providing policy guidance to line managers, and supporting them in decision making.
- Attend formal ER hearings in the capacity of HR support, and take notes as and when required to capture key points of the meeting.
- Lead on policy review tracker ensuring version control for all policies is maintained and comms plans are created, in partnership with our Internal Comms team, the Employee Forum is consulted on any significant policy changes.
- Support managers in Rehab/Occupational Health referrals, ensuring all data submitted is timely, accurate, and balanced and that feasibility of adjustments/recommendations are appropriately considered.
- Liaise with our Occupational Health provider on all cases related to Permanent Health Insurance (GIP) and provide regular progress updates to the People Business Partnering team.
- Confident working in a fast-paced environment
- Positive attitude to delivering change
- Awareness and experience in handling sensitive personal information and queries
- Employment law knowledge
- Can work proactively as well as reactively.
