Plant Area Assistant

Bawdeswell is a well established and extremely popular Garden Centre situated on the Norwich road midway between Norwich & Fakenham, unique not only for its fantastic selection of products but also for its landscaped Millennium Garden and Treetops Adventure Play Area.

We are currently seeking an experienced and practically minded horticulturist to work in our busy plants area, assisting our customers with sales and advice and tending to the plants.

The role will be 2 days a week - one of these days being every Wednesday - and you must be able to work every other weekend. The working hours will be 9am to 5pm weekdays and Saturdays, and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.

The plant area duties include plant care and maintenance, providing excellent customer service and dealing with stock replenishment and replacement under the supervision of the Plant Area Manager and team.

**Required Education and skills, qualifications**:

- Good horticultural knowledge and experience, preferably with a horticultural qualification.
- Must be physically fit and capable of undertaking the manual tasks associated with this role
- Be practical and hands-on
- Be computer literate as may be required to source & print information and obtain advice
- Excellent communication skills and have confidence when dealing with customers
- Be a team player but also be able to work on own initiative
- Happy to work outdoors in all weathers
- Previous retail experience would be preferred.

This is more than a "keen gardener" role as you must be prepared to be on your feet for the majority of the day.

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: From £11.44 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 16 per week
