Job Purpose

The Materials Buying function provides the primary interface between the external supply chain and WRL on a day to day basis.

It is responsible to maintain a professional, structured and organised process for the management of Purchase Orders and inbound materials that meets customer requirements aligned to the Master Production Plan and Tactical build plans.

To collate, assess and where necessary determine manufacturing prioritisation whilst controlling all inbound inventory and the management of Working Capital in line within company targets.

To work in conjunction with the Buying functions to understand part / commodity strategies and be accountable for the ongoing management of Purchase Orders and ongoing scheduling and order management in line with each program requirement, either through MRP or other agreed mechanisms.

Principle Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Safety

1. Compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental and any other relevant legislation or standards set by WRL

Quality

1. The Material Buyer will ensure that all Purchase Orders and documentation complies fully to company QAP procedures and WRL quality standards.

2. Supplier Purchase Orders and delivery adherence / performance is to be measured in line with business OTIF measures and communicated to your supply base.

3. The Material Buyer will work closely with the Quality function to manage all quality rejections / failures and adhere to the WIM procedure with their vendors to ensure all appropriate containment, corrective action and root cause failures are formally addressed.

4. WRL QAP policies and procedures will be adhered to at all times.

Delivery

1. Responsible for the creation & management of Purchase Orders / Framework Orders and associated supplier performance for the portfolios allocated to you.

2. The management of day to day communication, prioritisation and delivery to ensure availability of materials to the Master Production Schedule.

3. Lead supplier relationships and delivery performance on a day to day basis.

4. Enact formal recovery plans as required to address supplier areas of failure.

5. Communicate program changes in a timely manner & gain formal supply chain capacity acceptance.

6. Maintenance of accurate supplier Lead Time data and its maintenance in Oracle.

7. Manage data within the Oracle system to reflect supplier deliveries and accurate performance KPIs.

8. Support regular, formal reviews with your supply base to present the ‘Delivery’ aspects of the QCD review.

9. Oversee supplier Load, Capacity and Rate Readiness capability on a regular basis to ensure vendor capacity and resources meet WRL program demands.

10. Work with the Buying functions to identify arears of risk and present mitigation strategies where required.

11. Liaise with internal customers to agree and prioritise critical issues to ensure appropriate recovery actions are initiated to support your customer.

12. Accountable for the resolution of Goods Inwards receipt issues in line with prescribed SLA’s

13. Resolve supplier invoice queries in a timely manner and identify areas of root cause and implement corrective/preventative action plans to eliminate recurrence.

14. Contribute to the continuous improvement of all aspects of the Material Planning function internally & externally.

15. Communicate formal plans with their assigned vendors to drive improved Quality, reduce Total Cost of Acquisition, reduce Working Capital and achieve class leading delivery OTIF metrics.

16. May be required to raise expense or stock purchase orders in accordance with company policies and procedures

18. Perform any other duties as appropriate within post holder’s skills and competencies
