As Head of Operational Risk, you will be responsible for leading the Operational Risk team as well as maintaining and developing an effective operational risk management framework. You'll be able to identify and mitigate operational risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Reporting to the Divisional Director, Group Risk Management, the Head of Operational Risk plays a meaningful role in ensuring the Group has an effective approach to risk management and develops an effective risk management culture. The role will further take lead roles in maintaining, improving, and embedding the Group’s Risk Management framework (with a focus on operational risk) and leading and overseeing engagements with business areas on behalf of the Group Risk Management team.

**What you'll be doing**:
Through the leadership of the operational risk team the role-holder will have responsibility to:

- Maintain, develop, and embed the risk management framework, policies, and procedures in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry standard processes.
- Identify, assess, and prioritise operational risks (including strategic and emerging threats and opportunities) across the organisation, including operational processes, technology systems, and outsourcing arrangements.
- Monitor and escalate on key operational risk indicators and metrics to senior management and the risk committee.
- Be the senior risk contact for and lead a team of risk professionals who are Risk Business Partners to the business.
- Provide guidance and support to business divisions and functions on operational risk-related matters, promoting risk awareness and a culture of risk management.
- Supply specialist technical knowledge and business awareness on the development, within the Group Risk team, of other strategic priorities
- Collaborate with internal partners, including compliance, internal audit, and business leaders, to ensure coordinated risk management efforts.
- Lead and supervise the development of the operational risk team.

**Who we're looking for**:

- Familiarity with UK regulatory requirements, particularly within the wealth management industry.
- Solid understanding of risk assessment techniques, control frameworks, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Proficiency in utilising risk management tools and systems.
- Experience should relate to UK Financial Services (and ideally Wealth Management) to have familiarity with appropriate products, services, operations, and regulation.
- Strong experience of risk management in the second line as well as experienced of dealing with challenging situations, particularly in the context of managing risks is essential.
- A high level of problem-solving skill is required, including analysing MI from across the business and identifying trends.
